Three Keys for Healing at Home

If you or a loved one are healing from cancer or any other health challenges you need to know about some of the easiest things you can do from your own home to support your body’s ability to detox and heal.

Spend time in a Sauna

Our bodies are exposed to all sorts of harmful chemicals, toxins, and pollutants on a regular basis. And how does our body purge from all that garbage? Through our largest organ, the skin! Do you make sweating a priority every day? Most people don’t. Detoxing is key to healing and sweating is key to detoxing.

To stimulate sweating I’ve been using a dry, infrared sauna for several years now to support my health. Besides the detox potential, you know what else is awesome about using a sauna? 30 minutes in an infrared sauna has the same cardiovascular effects as a 30-minute moderate bike ride!

I strongly recommend sweating if you’re working to heal something major, however, you don’t have to sweat profusely to get benefits from an infrared sauna. Far infrared heat rays are absorbed by your body’s tissues causing increased blood flow and local temperature and this provides nutrients and oxygen to your body while also assisting in the removal of toxins. So if you’re considering investing in your health and supporting your body in detoxing, I recommend starting out slow with your sauna and building up your tolerance to the heat.

I have the 1 Love Sauna Dome. Here’s what I love about it:

It includes an easy-to-clean pillow for your head. At first, I thought I wouldn’t use it, but even with a towel over it, my regular pillows ended up soaked with sweat before I came to appreciate the genius of the included pillow. Just wipe it down when you’re done!

The sauna mat has therapeutic healing stones — Tourmaline, Germanium, Bian, and Jade — sewn into it!

Invest in Nutrition

You’ve probably heard it said that health starts in your gut. In order to heal your gut, you need to be eating the most healing foods. Think unprocessed, organic, plant food. To pack the most nutrients into your diet and support your body in detoxing, consider juicing regularly too. If you can’t manage to fit juicing into your schedule at least start with a several-day juice detox. There are lots of juice shops offering detox packs and you can buy cold-pressed juices in most grocery stores these days too.

If you’re wondering what to eat to nourish your body check out this list of 24 foods with anti-cancer properties:

Green Tea, Blackberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, Lemons, Onions, Kale, Green Leafy Vegetables, Turmeric, Artichokes, Garlic, Tomato, Olive Oil, Dark Chocolate, Oregano, Ginger, Cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts, Avocado, Nuts & Seeds, Broccoli, Mushrooms, Ginseng, Broccoli & Kale Sprouts, Nuts & Seeds

You’ll want to drink the cleanest, best water for your body as well. Consider investing in a high-quality filter. We have a Kangen K8 machine with eight titanium plates. According to Enagic, that means “improved water ionization, increased antioxidant production potential, and stable production of PH.” We’ve had ours for four and a half years and love it.

Soothe your Soul

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of mental, emotional and spiritual practices in healing the body. There is no right or wrong way to do these. Just start! This may look like committing to meditation and prayer every day. It may include music! Perhaps reading spiritual books. I highly recommend mirror work — making intentional eye contact with yourself in the mirror and sharing whatever is in your heart. Commit to speak to yourself with love and remind yourself every single day that you love yourself. You deserve this love! Allow any emotions and memories you have been stifling to surface. Let them flow out of you and be honest about what comes up. Remind yourself you are safe and strong. You are the only thinker in your mind. Choose the thoughts you create deliberately.

You could also consider practices like Emotional Freedom Technique, Yoga, Reiki, Recall Healing, and Acupuncture. The list is endless, this barely scrapes the surface. Just commit to doing the work in the way that feels best to you.

A few of my favorite mental/emotional/spiritual teachers include:

Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer, Gabby Bernstein, Joe Dispenza, and Inna Segal
